In Evolution: Climate, players are tasked with nurturing prehistoric animals, helping them to adapt and thrive in a volatile ecosystem. Food is scarce, predators prowl in the shadows and the ever-changing and extreme climate make survival a challenge.
All species start weak and defenceless and only grow by acquiring new traits in the form of cards. These very same cards are used to determine the available food and climate changes every round, making hand management a very important skill in the game. Successfully playing synergetic combinations of traits to build a sustainable food consumption engine can be very rewarding.
The game also excels in creating a state of tension, as you are compelled to constantly guess your opponents’ intentions and adjust your strategies. This not only applies to carnivorous evolutions, but also to reductions of food and wild climate swings. All of which can wipe out your animals.
